Îţi propunem un joc. Dacă ai fi ambasadorul unui colţ de lume, care ar fi acela? Ce ar spune el despre tine şi ce ai povesti celorlalţi despre el? Cum i-ai face pe ceilalţi să-ţi descopere lumea, timp de o zi?

Jocul se întâmplă de doi ani la World Wide Weekend, un eveniment pe care GROW îl desfăşoară în 14 oraşe alături de participanţii la program. După ce au interacţionat cu traineri de pe toate continentele timp de 6 săptămâni, aceştia au ocazia să le spună povestea recompunând cultura din care vin. Exerciţiul lor de imaginaţie, de organizare şi lucru in echipă e un mod non-formal de a învăţa despre ei inşişi, despre deschidere culturală şi despre cum pot fi buni ambasadori pentru ţara lor.

În aprilie 2012, evenimentul a adunat sute de participanţi din întreaga ţară şi 42 de traineri internaţionali, fiecare implicat în prezentarea unei culturi. Totul – de la organizarea standurilor, până la costume şi specialităţi culinare – a fost conceput de liceeni între 15 şi 19 ani. Urmăreşte clipul evenimentului, să vezi cum au dat viaţă ideilor lor.

Hi! I am a student who applied  for GROW 1.0. Have you wondered what it is like? Well… I want to tell you a few words about my experience.

First of all, I found out about GROW at school. I have to mention that I am very happy for having taken part in this program and, every day, I enthusiastically went to classes. At first, of course, I did not know what it exactly meant, but I am glad that I applied because it was a good opportunity for me. There were four trainers; mine were from Estonia and Portugal: two very friendly and cheerful girls.  Every single morning we did some “energizing” games.

I can say that I was taught a lot of new things that helped me a lot. During the lessons I had much fun as we made many jokes, I met new people who I am still in touch with, I developed my communication skills and I improved my English. There was a lesson about public speaking where I learnt different tricks like how to see the audience using the M and Z methods. There were also some training courses on how to make a presentation using PowerPoint or how to use a map and other useful tools.

We also had some lessons regarding Romanian and European values or how to make  plans for the future. Some of the most important topics were, for me, the ones which helped me in finding  new things about myself, my qualities and defects.

In a nutshell, GROW is a wonderful program and I recommend it with all my heart. It was the best experience of my life. I simply love GROW!

Are you a student in the 9th grade and you want to meet new people? Do you like having fun and taking part in trainings on different subjects, from personal development to communication skills, from the advantages and disadvantages of being a European citizen to methods of spending your free time? Does the word “sociable” describe you best? Does English language have no secrets for you? If the answer to all the questions above is YES, we are glad to have YOU with us  between February 3rd and April 6th.

 Application submission has started since two weeks ago, but you still have enough time for subscribing. Last year, GROW had an unpredictibly good impact; both we and the students who had participated, were very satisfied with our results. Regarding this year, we are improving the project and fixing all the issues  which didn’t work as we had expected. We are doing this so that you, the teenagers who apply for GROW, can enjoy every single moment during our informal “lessons”. So far, approximately 3700 students have joined our programme.

We have noticed that socializing, learning or improving your English and having fun at the same time are some of the most common reasons that have determined you to apply. The good news is that GROW means a lot more: you will learn new things about yourself, you will be able to express your thoughts, feelings, ideas and, maybe the most important of all, you will become a part of a group which wants to change the future of Romania.

So GROW is coming with quick steps and the only thing missing is YOU!
