We are very happy that the GROW project is useful not only for the teenagers, but also for the trainers, the international volunteers who energize the sessions. Marina, Erasmus volunteer from Spain, says that GROW was a great context to improve herself and grow her confidence.

“Being a GROW trainer was one of the most amazing and complete experiences in my life. At first I was a bit worried because despite having already done some activity as a volunteer with children, I had never done activities of this type with teenagers. In spite of this, it has been fantastic, I have enjoyed very much all the sessions and the teenagers have been great.

One of the activities that I enjoyed the most was the “gymkhana” on the last day, when the teenagers had a particularly good time, in addition to the obstacle course activity in which they really felt vulnerable and could learn a lot.

This experience has been very rewarding and I have also been able to learn a lot and improve as a person. At first I was afraid to speak in front of so many teenagers in English, but after two days the fear disappeared. The truth is that I have gained a lot of self-confidence and I have developed my skills remarkably, which will be very useful in my future work.

If GROW was a sweet it would be a chocolate volcano – at first it may seem like a mountain a bit high to climb, but when you get to the top it is an explosion of joy, fun and personal growth.

I recommend everyone to do this experience as it is enriching and useful in life to overcome your own fears, grow and improve your skills in every way.”
