While getting ready for another GROW edition and preparing the sessions, we wondered how are the former trainers doing. So we asked them to write down a message for you, the teenagers who participated in this project, in order to remember the beautiful moments spent together with them.

Hey guys! How are you? I hope you are doing great 🙂

For those of you who don’t know me (or don’t remember me), my name is Sofia, I’m from Brazil and I was a GROW Trainer in Bucharest in January 2014.

When I think about GROW, one of the nicest things I remember is how welcoming all of you were. At first I was really nervous about teaching a bunch of teenagers, but I had such a warm reception that things became easy very quickly. I also can’t forget to mention the other 6 trainers that were with me, Vivienne, Victor, Jonathan (aka Batman), Dillon, Jelena & Jimmy.

One of the reasons that I was nervous is that I had to teach some things I wasn’t really a master in, so to say. I was super shy, and I had to teach how to speak in public?! It didn’t make sense at first, but with all the training from AIESEC and Scoala de Valori plus the classes, I developed many skills, including some of the things I had to present to you. I can definitely say that GROW has helped me overcome my shyness and my time management improved a great deal, among other things. I’m 100% sure that this experience will help me with my career next year, when I will start looking for jobs!

If I had to give one advice right now it would be don’t let your “weaknesses” keep you from doing the things you want. Face them and go for it!

As for you guys, all I can say is thank you! Thank you AIESEC, thank you Scoala de Valori, thank you all the other trainers and most importantly thank you students, because if it wasn’t for you there would be no project, there would be no GROWing. I hope someday I can go back to Romania and meet all of you again!
